Европейский парламент пересмотрел оценку собственного ущерба, нанесенного в результате выплат заработных плат фиктивно трудоустроенным помощникам евродепутатов от ультраправого "Национального фронта" с 2012 по 2017 годы.

О сумме убытков в письме следственным судьям сообщил адвокат Европарламента Патрик Мазонньов.

Учитывая "новые элементы" в деле за последние месяцы и данные, которые потенциально могут появиться, Европарламент оценил ущерб от фиктивного трудоустройства помощников "Нацфронта" в 4 978 122 евро.

Согласно предварительной оценке, сделанной в сентябре 2015 года, фиктивное трудоустройство помощников евродепутатов партии кандидата в президенты Франции Марин Ле Пен нанесло ущерб Европарламенту на 1,9 млн евро.

В конце января Европарламент приказал Марин Ле Пен и "Национальному фронту" вернуть 340 тысяч евро, выплаченных в качестве зарплаты двум ее помощникам, которые на самом деле ни дня не проработали в ЕП, а вместо этого работали в штаб-квартире "Нацфронта".

В среду стало известно, что Европарламент официально начал процедуру снятия парламентского иммунитета с Ле Пен по делу о фиктивном трудоустройстве помощников.
