Найпопулярнішим месенджером у світі є сервіс QQ, що належить китайському інтернет-гігантові Tecent. Ним користується 843 мільйонів чоловік щомісяця.

Друге місце займає WhatsApp, який Facebook придбав за 18 мільярдів доларів у 2014. Ним користується понад 800 мільйонів осіб по всьому світу. Третє посідає власна розробка компанії - Messenger з 700 мільйонами користувачів.

Найбільш стрімке зростання з моменту публікації попереднього рейтингу продемонстрував сервіс для відправки коротких повідомлень WeChat, який також належить Tecent. За останній квартал (з квітня по липень) число його користувачів збільшилося на 37% і склало близько 600 мільйонів користувачів. Про це свідчить звітність корпорації. Тож WeChat опиняється на четвертій сходинці рейтингу.

За ним слідують Viber, Line і Snapchat. При цьому ізраїльський Viber «зібрав» 249 мільйонів осіб. Сервіс Line дуже популярний в Японії, і налічує 211 млн користувачів, а Snapchat, який дозволяє обмінюватися зображеннями, які самознищуються  - близько 100 млн.
