Напередодні новорічних свят українська співачка classical crossover Аріна Домскі представила глядачам свою інтерпретацію різдвяної української колядки "Щедрик", яка стала всесвітньо відомою завдяки музичній обробці українського композитора Миколи Леонтовича.
У репертуарі Домскі зібрані найкращі класичні твори світу, починаючи від творів Генделя і завершуючи сучасною академічною класичною музикою. Свою новорічну програму співачка вирішила доповнити найвідомішою різдвяною темою свого знаменитого співвітчизника. Аріна, яка активно гастролює у Європі та Азії, вважає себе зобов’язаною популяризувати найкращі класичні твори українською культури за кордоном. Домскі відмовилась від англомовного варіанту пісні, а записала пісню українською мовою, щоб якомога більше прихильників дізнались про те, що пісня належить авторству видатного українця Леонтовича. Пісня так міцно укорінилася в західній культурі, що нині мало хто здогадується про її українське походження.
Над "Щедриком" Леонтович працював майже все своє життя. Перша редакція пісні була написана у 1901 році. Вперше «Щедрик» виконав хор Київського Університету у 1916 году — у період, коли композитор працював у Києві. А у 1921 році «Щедрик» було перекладено англійською мовою і вперше його виконали за океаном на концерті у «Карнегі Холл», у Нью-Йорку. Англійською цей твір відомий як "Carol of the Bells".
