Сопродюсеры Propagate Бен Сильверман и Говард Т. Оуэн совместно с музыкантом и бизнесменом Will.i.am объявляют кастинг на новое реалити-шоу The Planet of the Apps (забавная игра слов, аллюзия на «Планету обезьян» — в оригинале The Planet of the Apes) для создателей приложений для Apple. Анонс многообещающий и задающий высокую планку для претендентов — «100 самых талантливых во всем мире создателей приложений».
В релизе, опубликованном в техноблоге 9to5Mac, продюсеры будущего шоу обещают участникам возможность пробиться со своими идеями и поделиться ими со всем миром: «Это захватывающий формат, который приводит нас туда, где творится культура сегодня. Мы не можем дождаться, чтобы увидеть идеи, которые смогут сделать шоу жизнеспособным бизнесом».
Выбор такой площадки для создания шоу неслучаен: сегодня iTunes — одна из самых крупных платформ для дистрибуции контента: зарегистрированных пользователей у него — 800 миллионов, что значительно больше, чем подписчиков у Amazon или Netflix.
Количество скачиваемых приложений регулярно растет, сегодня оно составляет более 2 миллионов только в App Store, а число конкурентов на рынке увеличивается. Именно поэтому создатели шоу отмечают, что это борьба не между людьми, в отличие от традиционных шоу, это борьба между их творениями — приложениями для продукции Apple. Победителя ждет не только слава, признание и возможность реализовать свои идеи под руководством лучших специалистов в этой сфере, но и стартовые 10 миллионов долларов. За такой приз стоит побороться.
Заявки на участие принимаются до конца августа, съемки начнутся позже в этом году. Выход программы запланирован на начало 2017 года.
