Социальная сеть Facebook запустит свое новостное приложение для мобильных устройств. Проект под названием Paper (букв. «Газета») может появиться уже до конца января, сообщает Recode со ссылкой на анонимные источники.

Приложение будет сделано по схожей схеме с приложением Flipboard, созданным для чтения новостей из разных источников. Paper будет собирать популярные и важные новости как из СМИ, так и из статусов пользователей Facebook, пишет Lenta.ru. Paper будет либо мобильным приложением, либо самостоятельным от Facebook сайтом, приспособленным под чтение на мобильных устройствах.

В Facebook комментировать запуск приложения Paper отказались.

В последние месяцы Facebook активно шла по пути превращения в «персонализированную газету для всех и каждого». В марте 2013 года CEO Facebook Марк Цукерберг объявил о планах сделать новостные ленты пользователей более похожими на СМИ. Осенью соцсеть сообщила о запуске сервиса под названием Stories to Share — он дает СМИ рекомендации по продвижению своего контента в сети. В начале декабря был представлен новый алгоритм построения новостной ленты: теперь наверх у пользователей попадают не фотографии и посты их друзей, а высококачественные материалы из СМИ. Кроме того, команда сервиса Branch, который позволяет пользователям делиться ссылками на понравившиеся им новостные статьи, займется разработкой проект Facebook Conversations — он, как сообщается, будет объединять пользователей по интересам.
