Прес-конференцію американський президент призначив на другу половині дня в п'ятницю, на ній він має намір обговорити питання американо-російських відносин і боротьби з тероризмом, передає Сіньхуа. 

 Обама після закінчення зустрічі з прем'єр-міністром Греції Антонісом Самарасом, відповідаючи на запитання журналіста про причини скасування зустрічі з президентом Росії Володимиром Путіним, запропонував зустрітися сьогодні на спеціально організованій прес-конференції.

Як повідомляв УНІАН, 7 серпня президент США Барак Обама скасував зустріч з президентом РФ Володимиром Путіним, яка повинна була відбутися в Москві перед самітом G-20. Відміна відбулася на тлі напруженості, пов'язаної з наданням РФ тимчасового притулку екс-співробітнику американських спецслужб Едварду Сноудену.
