Полиция Торонто получила в свое распоряжение видео, на котором в процессе употребления наркотиков запечатлен мэр города Роб Форд, сообщают РИА Новости.

"Мы обнаружили цифровую видеозапись, на которой запечатлено то, что ранее было опубликовано рядом СМИ (курение крэка). Теперь этот файл ляжет в основу доказательной базы дела", — заявил шеф полиции Торонто Билл Блэйр (Bill Blair). Сам Форд долгое время отрицал существование подобной записи.

Осенью прошлого года суд канадской провинции Онтарио уже прекращал действие полномочий Форда, однако тогда поводом для решения стало его участие в спорном голосовании, а не пристрастие к наркотикам.

В 2010 году, вскоре после вступления в должность, Форд участвовал в голосовании по вопросу о том, должен ли он вернуть спонсорам 3 тысячи долларов, собранные для его футбольного фонда с помощью сотрудников мэрии. Городской суд счел его действия неуместными. Позже Форд был восстановлен в должности, так как суд высшей инстанции удовлетворил его апелляцию.
